What does success look like
A singular product that closes the training management gap so operators can trust and manage their safety programs with one application.
What I did
✈ Worked with product, leadership, and the UX design team to define which users to prioritize.
Airline training managers because this product helps them manage the health and success of their training programs.
Boeing training managers because this product helps them manage their airlines, the training materials the specific airlines needs, the specific types of training that airlines pilots need based on their fleet, scheduling, and submitting to regulators.
Maintenance because this product helps streamline training material delivery and maintenance standards.
Simplified role mapping created by product and dev.
User persona matrix based on role mapping to decide which user groups to prioritize for the consolidation efforts.
✈ Defined which design problems to tackle by ranking their level of priority based on requirements and on-going sprints.
Defined the primary workflow/s of each application and for each primary user type.
Designed a single UI to wayfind these workflows with ease.
Created a component driven UI to show/hide features based on user role without compromising the integrity of the product as a whole.
Defined high level workflows across the 3 teams to thread them into unified workflows for a consolidated application.
Pair managed the design strategy and design road map to dovetail product design unification efforts into current dev cycles.
Get alignment from the 3 product teams on current features vs coming soon features.
Understand the current technical limitations and technical road map.
Iterate and refine core unified UX flows and high level UI wireframes to validate design approach.
Translate low fidelity to high fidelity designs and prototypes.
Define common design system elements across the 3 products and streamline them into a single source of design trust.
How I got it done
Understand the personality types of the decision makers; how they communicate; adapt process to meet them where they are to earn trust and invest in collaboration.
Identify the most complex UX within each application; high hanging fruit; propose simplifying the UX.
Identify the streamlined UX within each application; low hanging fruit; and consider ways to leverage these into the broader user workflows.
Understand the current product road maps and their target milestones; where can we adjust timing for mirco UX/UI changes vs larger design implementations.
