Project Overview

Client: Currently under contract with this client

Role: Senior UX Product Designer

Timeline: April 2025 – Present

Platform: Web based training tool

Goal: Consolidate three separate applications for training, grading, and data charts into a seamless CX.

Product Roles to UX Personas

Product delivered a user role/permissions document which I translated into user personas. Below is an outline of my thinking and steps taken.

  • Analyze the user roles to understand responsibilities, permissions, and system touch points.

  • Deconstructed the roles from a product mindset to a UX mindset based on common goals and usage patterns.

  • Create primary and variant personas based on role/permissions usability.

UX customer journey

I created customer journeys based on the UX personas and requirements from leadership.

  • Mapped end-to-end user steps across swim lanes to define responsibilities between Admins, TMs, and System interactions.

  • Converted workflow steps into structured journey cards to identify key actions for design prioritization.

Initial wireframe concepts

The user flows were used to create lo-fi concepts of the consolidated application landing page based on several technical limitations and available resources.

  • Translated user flows into low-fidelity wireframe concepts to define feasible layout and feature scope.

  • Collaborated with engineering to ensure early concepts were technically viable before moving into higher-fidelity designs.

Initial High Fidelity Design concepts

After presenting wireframes, notes from leadership and engineering were collected and designed into the high fidelity design with a focus on the primary user persona of Training Associate (Safety Manager).

  • Collected additional business requirements and user feedback to iterate the design to the primary user type.

  • Worked with the User Experience Designers from each product space to establish a design system and components to align the UX, UI, and workflow for the consolidation.
