Case Study: Scalable Design System and Notification Center

TLTR: The challenge was to design a clear, intuitive design system and scaleable component library that would support rapid iteration and feature growth.

By conducting a UX audit of the MVP product, I discovered design was spending 40% of their time reworking layouts. I achieved my goals by building a scalable component library for both web and mobile (future state) by creating a Figma-based system.

In the process of this task, I noticed the need for a notification center. Building this UI would streamline messaging to the user from the business and application. I went to product and leadership with my case and was tasked with design and implementation.

Case Study: Integrating Three Training Solutions

TLTR: The challenge was to integrate three products by guiding the integration strategy. I did this by facilitating cross-functional discovery workshops and unpacked the UX/UI overlaps by 60%. The execution was to unify the ecosystem while navigating business boundaries, group think, and technical limitations. The outcome was creating a design system and component library by facilitating alignment between tools, people, and systems.

This work began in spring of 2024 and is currently in progress.

Case Study: Humanizing Book Discovery

TLTR: The challenge was to improve personalization and clarity of book recommendations by increasing trust and engagement.

A key insight is users don’t trust recommendations when it did not include the profile or photo of a real person. By connecting content from the Amazon Book Review to the editorial blurb component, customers were able to see a bio and photo of an Amazon Book Editor, creating a human-centered connection to the book recommendation.

Based on 2% increase in sales, I continued to build a north star design pattern to include other human centered voices like authors, Kindle highlights, Goodreads, and more.
